"Wings
of Eagles" Local Program
 "Wings of Eagles," The Joseph Alvarez
Organization for seriously ill children, has a goal of providing emotional
and financial assistance to all families in the four county areas of:
Butte, Glenn, Tehama and Colusa counties (surrounding counties/pediatric
cancer only) who have children with a pediatric cancer or a
life-threatening illness diagnosis.
Criteria for "Wings" assistance:
- A family within the four-county area who
has a child with a pediatric cancer or a life-threatening illness
diagnosis.
- Preference of aid given to families who have
a child with a pediatric cancer diagnosis.
- Preference of aid given to families with
limited government assistance.
- Preference of aid given to families who are
single-parent households.
- Documentation of illness of child must be
presented upon acceptance of referral.
"Wings" local aid includes, but is not exclusive
to:
- Upon acceptance, "Wings" will send or give
to family of ill child, an emergency pack containing prepaid gas
cards. The pack will also
include a family file form to be filled out and sent back to "Wings
of Eagles."
- After acceptance, "Wings" will offer help that will meet
the families greatest need, for example, payment of an outstanding
phone bill, the purchase of needed furniture or appliances, emotional
support, or car repairs through the "Wings" Family Car Repair
Pro.
- "Wings" will keep in contact with the family through letters,
phone calls, and home visits, letting them know "Wings of Eagles"
board members and volunteers care.
- "Wings" plays an active role in the community, helping
to provide information that our community needs to know about the
health of our children.
- "Wings" provides each family it assists with a Hospital
Care Kit which contains many items a family will need during extended
hospital stays.
- "Wings" provides each family it serves with a gift card for T.G. Dinner.
- "Wings" provides each family it serves with a Christmas
Party, Christmas gifts and food gift certificates during the Christmas
Holiday Season.
- "Wings" provides each family it assists with Easter Baskets
for each family member during the Easter Holiday through the Brad
Jasper Easter Basket Program.
